Set-up time is less than 10 minutes, and regardless of your technical ability, set-up is simple and easy. This ease of use will encourage non-crypto folks to get into the ecosystem with the simple task of sharing WiFi access.

How does it work?
You just set up a Wayru Genesis device by connecting it to a power source and an active Internet router. You’ll follow three simple steps with the Hotspot Operator app and link your device to your account.
Once linked, your device will broadcast a WiFi network that will allow anyone with a WiFi-compatible device to get online, and you’ll start earning crypto rewards.
You’ll get rewards in Wayru Tokens for every connected user and have access to real-time analytics of the traffic used and rewards made.
For your Hotspot to be active and start earning rewards, you’ll need $200 worth of Wayru Tokens locked up into your device’s contract. This method will help strengthen the ecosystem as the network grows.

Wayru will provide connectivity where it is most needed starting in big cities in Latam. We will set up Hotspots in high-traffic places like restaurants, convenience stores, low-income communities with high demand, or even a mall or plazas.
We group the Hotspots deployed in any city into something we call Hotspot Pools. We tokenize the Pools, and the number of tokens in the Pool depends on the location of the Pool and the number of Hotspots in the Pool.

How are rewards paid?
You will get rewards paid in Wayru Tokens. You earn rewards for the uptime of your Hotspot and traffic your Hotspot transfers.
What is uptime?
Uptime is the amount of time your device runs smoothly and provides connectivity.
How is uptime measured?
We measure uptime by the minute. Depending on the continuity of the Hotspot being up and running, you’ll fall into different tiers. The longer your Hotspot is up, the higher the reward per minute of uptime.

What is traffic?
Traffic is the number of megabytes transferred in your Hotspot by sending and receiving data packets.
How is traffic measured?
We measure traffic by the megabytes consumed by users connected to your Hotspot. You'll fall into different tiers depending on the average daily uptime and speed. The longer the uptime and the higher the bandwidth, the more you get paid per megabyte.

Who can be a Hotspot Operator?

What do I need to become a Hotspot Operator?
- At least one Genesis Device.
- Location or site for Genesis Device set up.
- An Active Fixed Internet Network.
- Access to Electricity 24/7.
- A Wayru Hotspot Operator account/wallet with $200 worth of WRU Tokens locked to activate your Hotspot.
How to get a Genesis device?
You’ll be able to get a Genesis device from Wayru’s website.

How do I receive my rewards?
You’ll receive your rewards to your account every month. You can redeem rewards with a four-week cool-down period. Still, you can use them immediately to stake against other nodes and earn even more rewards.
How do I retrieve my locked $WRU?
Locked up $WRU can be redeemed with an 8-week cool-down period. During that cool-down period, your Hotspot won’t receive any rewards. You need to lock up $WRU in your account to start receiving rewards again.
What is the energy consumption per Hotspot?
Estimated Electricity Consumption if running 24/7:
- Per hour: 15.4 Wh
- Per day: 0.369 kWh
- Per month: 11.1 kWh
Pre-sale
The Pre-sale will happen in batches. You will have access to an earlier batch depending on your position on the list. Early birds will receive more rewards than later ones.
To get on top of the list, you must refer people to join the Waiting List. Rewards range between $50–100 worth of $WRU, locked to your account for your Hotspot activation on MainNet.
One mandatory requirement to be eligible to receive your rewards is to participate on TestNet and earn at least $100 in fake $WRU during the Wayru Hotspot TestNet Program, which will be open later this year, around early Q4.
